Cyprus Bureau of Shipping, within its broader aim of promoting Safety of Property, Life and the Environment in both Marine and Onshore Industry, actively participates in the Pan-European Campaign for Healthy Workplaces.
The Europe-wide Healthy Workplaces Campaign 2010-11 will promote accident-free safe maintenance.
The pan-European Healthy Workplaces Campaign is focusing in 2010 and 2011 on the issue of safe maintenance. Its aim is to raise awareness of the importance of maintenance in European workplaces, and of the risks if it is not carried out properly.
The Campaign is co-ordinated by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), and its partners in the 27 EU Member States and beyond. It supports a wide range of activities at both the European and national level that promote safe maintenance.
The official launch of the Campaign was on 28 April 2010, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. Many of its events are focused around the European Week for Safety and Health at Work, which takes place in calendar week 43 in October 2010 and 2011.
- Who can take part?
The Campaign is open to all organisations and individuals at local, national and European levels, including:
- employers in the public and private sector, including SMEs;
- managers, supervisors and workers;
- trade unions and safety representatives;
- safety and health institutions;
- OSH professionals and practitioners;
- training providers and the education community;
- regional and local OSH prevention and insurance services.

A wide variety of Campaign material is free to download from the Healthy Workplaces campaign website in 22 European languages including:
- a Campaign Guide;
- factsheets;
- PowerPoint presentations;
- good practice case studies;
- campaigning ideas and news on what others are doing;
- cartoon videos featuring the popular animated character Napo;
- links to related sites;and much more…
A variety of activities take place every year during the European Week for Safety and Health at Work. Suggested activities that you can initiate include:
- film, video and multimedia information projects;
- trainings, seminars and workshops;
- poster competitions and quizzes;
- exhibitions and open days;
- advertising and promotion campaigns;
- press conferences and media activities.
