AdvanFort hails pick of former U.S. Congress lawyer and litigation partner as its new in-house legal counsel Washington, D.C., April 23, 2013
The maritime security leader AdvanFort Company welcomes attorney Sheila R. Schreiber—someone who brings with her a wealth of private and public sector experiences—to her new role as its in-house legal counsel.
Schreiber is a former litigation partner with Howrey LLP, served as counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary, and has extensive experience in the national and international sales of industrial products. Her specialties include commercial, regulatory, employment, intellectual property, corporate, and antitrust matters.
“For a company already receiving unmitigated praise for its consistent efforts to make sure that its best practices are also fully faithful to the laws and regulations of the countries in which we work, having Sheila as a critical part of our team is another important step forward in that process,” said AdvanFort President William H. Watson.
"Maintaining high ethics and legal compliance has proven key to AdvanFort winning the trust of many leaders among ship owners, managers and operators world-wide.
“We look forward to Sheila's wise counsel and keen insight to directly impact on our future growth and success, allowing us to fully exploit our international strengths as we continue the process of opening offices in a number of countries around the globe,” Captain Watson concluded.
Sheila is a cum laude graduate of the University of Pittsburgh law school where she was a member of the Law Review. Her bar and court memberships include the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Earlier this month AdvanFort was able to announce that it achieved key certification status in the Standard Private Maritime Security Company (PMSC) accreditation program of the Security Association for the Maritime Industry (SAMI), part of the company's on-going rigorous program of matching and exceeding emerging international benchmarks for quality and standards in maritime security.
